We are located in the Härjedalen region in between two Nature Reserves of incomparable beauty, surrounded by large lakes and forests.
Endangered animals such as the lynx, musk oxen, wolverines, bear and wolf still inhabit these lands as they have since time immemorial. The atmosphere of the area is just as it is described in the accounts of historic explorers such as in the stories of Jack London.
In this area we don’t have extremely high mountains – the Helag glacier, for instance, is 1770 m high – we have a series of plateaus which stretch as far as the eye can see, interspersed from time to time with drifts of snow and ice which constantly transform the area into new landscapes.
It’s easy to slip into a sort of ‘Arctic fever ‘ when confronted with these infinite spaces. These lands can easily lead to a sense of needing to flee – almost a sense of panic felt when faced with the ‘infinite’ – or, conversely, it can leave an indelible mark on individuals that never leaves them.
The holiday that we offer is a true life experience – firstly it is a journey in the true sense of the word. It is an opportunity to experience this part of Swedish Lapland away from the normal tourist areas. After a few skiing lessons our guests can explore areas that they could previously only imagine visiting by going to the cinema, having previously held the belief that only expert explorers could experience these places firsthand.
The winter season starts from December and continues until April. The best months to visit are February and March when the days are longer and they have more intense colours.
We offer weekly packages but you can extend them by request.
